Domenico Musacco

Postby musaccosteve » 31 Dec 2010, 21:02

Can anyone help me find military information on my grandfather, Domenico Musacco. Arrived in Ellis Island 1906. Born on April 8, 1874, in Frazione of Canneto in the commune of Adelfia in the province of Bari?

Thank you,

Steve

Thank you for your efforts and research, VJ. That's him ... he lived on K Street in San Diego. Now I have at least four spellings of my grandmother's last name, which are:

Galona (ship manifest - 1912)
Galarsa (father's birth certificate - 1918)
Galasa (WW1 Draft Registration Card - 1918)
Galasso (father's death certificate - 1967)

The correct spelling is considered Galasso. I will know for sure hopefully within the next few weeks, since today I requested my grandfather's and grandmother's respective birth certificates and marriage certificate from the Frazione of Canneto in the commune of Adelfia in the province of Bari.

If anyone is able to access military records on my grandfather from Italy, I would very much appreciate.

Steve

I was looking at previous threads on military records this morning. As I understand the dialogue, in order to get information on my grandfather's Italian military records, I will need to make the request through his comune. "Military records are held by the state archive for the comune in which the person was born. . . You could try making the request by email (as-ag@beniculturali.it); personally I prefer the formality of a written letter. The cost usually comes to just a few Euros." Accordingly, in my case, I address my request to my grandfather's commune (i.e., Adelphia), in order to obtain information on his military record.

Is this all I need to know?

Thank you,

Steve
