Searching for info about surname Lera Quilico

Postby ces32968 » 26 Jan 2011, 02:06

Hello all:
I am new here and hoping to get some information about researching Lera Quilico. My husband has all Italian ancestors and I am beginning to trace his geneology. His Maternal grandfather's name was Franco Lera Quilico. He came to the US around 1933 a year before his wife and daughter (Emilie and Gloria). I can only find the mother and daughter passenger list coming into the US and subsequent US Census records under the name of Frank Lera. I am trying to find any Italian records showing his full given name. I am also searching for any information about his father Francesco Lera Quilico. Francesco's wife's name was Malvina. I know that Franco and Gloria were born in Brusnengo, Biella, Piemonte, Italy. Emilie was born in Pennsylvania, US. What puzzles me is that I can find nothing on Ancestry.com when searching Lera Quilico other than a US record for Paulo and Frank. This Frank is not the same that I am searching for. I find many records for Lera and some for Quilico but none for Lera Quilico. Any information on this surname or Italian records from Brusnengo would be much appreciated! Thanks!

Thanks for the info. Unfortunately I have seen these before and though it is possible that they are relatives I am really searching for Francesco Lera Quilico's parents or any info about the names.

I am glad that you posted this though because after taking a second look I noticed that Anabile Lera Quilico's mother's name is listed on the passenger list and this may be a new name for me to research.

Does anyone know if records from Brusnengo are available online anywhere or how I would go about retrieving them without going to Italy?

Yes! This is him. I have seen his naturalization record so I don't know why I had that Gloria was born in Italy. But I could not find his original entrance into NY! Thanks so much!
