Verado-Antoniel

Postby italgal » 29 Jan 2011, 23:56

I am looking for records of my Great-Grandparents who were born in Brugnera and emigrated to the US in 1907 and 1908. My great-grandmother was Letizia Verardo who married my Great-grandfather Vincenzo Paolo (Paolo Vincenzo) Antoniel (or Antonielli), they had a son Massimiliano, he was born in Brugnera also, born November 15, 1906, before leaving Italy. Letizia left on the Regina d'Italia sailing from Genoa in 1908. Vincenzo left on the Slavonia from Fiume in 1907. It is a family tale that my Great-grandmother Letizia Verardo, her family owned a pasta factory in the region. I think my Great-great-grandfather's name was Paolo Verardo and that there may have been another daughter who may have run the pasta factory in Letizia's absence.

Letizia listed Washington DC as her destination, and I assume She was joining Vincenzo there because he emigrated a year earlier than she. I don't have any record of where they were living prior to the 1920 US Census. But I do know they lived in Washington DC until their deaths in the early 1950s.

That is my family, it's frustrating because they used so many names and spellings. Yes, I have that record as well as the 1930 US Census. I also have the ships manifests. The things I am missing is everything before 1907, what I need is in Italy, I just don't know how to go about getting birth and marriages from Italy. I do appreciate all the info that you have given me, I plan to visit one of the Family History Centers soon to see what assistance I can get from them.

Thats normal for italian names and dates on records thats why its great to back your finding up like you find a atti di nascita (italian birth record )which most of the time has the fathers name and the mothers maiden name then go from there and get their marriage record and then you can get their parents and ages and then you can back info up...............

Heres more info on reading italian records
