Hey Texas78 and Misbris,

Thanks again for the quick reply and info. I see where one can apply for Italian dual citizenship. From the info you provided to me, I learned my grandfather came to America with his mother at the age of 3 or 4 in 1902. My greatgrandfather arrived in 1899 from the port of Naples, home town Atripalda 30 miles from Naples. With the census report can we tell when my great grandfather or grandfather became US
citizens.

I'm still trying to figure out exactly what the requirements are. I am a direct descendant however I read that my father had to be born before my grandfather became a US citizen. Can you clarify the requirements for me.
Thanks
Tony D.

Basically you are correct. Here are the rules posted by the Newark Consulate.

http://www.consnewark.esteri.it/Consola ... tadinanza/

However your situation might be a little tricky. If your great grandfather attained citizenship while your grandfather was a minor, you might not be eligible. First thing you must find out is when your ggfather attained citizenship.
