Agostino's of Mammola

Postby Bluevanilla » 17 Feb 2011, 17:59

Hello,

I am looking for any help I can get to find out more about my fiance's family. His grandfather immigrated from Mammola once when he was 17 (around 1917) he was denied entry and sent back home to fight during WWI. He married after the war and returned back to canada in the mid 20's this time being allowed entry. He built a life and family here in Canada but I would love to see if I can find family or information on his life and service in Italy. Any assistance would be appreciated. I have quite a bit of information but seem to hit a bit of a wall in regards to specifics on his life in Italy. I look forward to any help that can be offered.

Thank you so much for your response. I have tried all of the links you suggested with the exception of the last one (angelfire). I was able through those websites to find out quite a bit of information regarding his immigration (2x's) to Canada as well as a bit of information on his family (brothers and father's name) from those records but it seems to be limited on the Italian side. I beleive his grandfather was on of the boys of '99 and would like to try and confirm that as well as see if any Agostino's in the area are related to him. I did try the phone directory and found about 21 Agostino's listed there so I am sure some of them must be a relative of some sort since the area is so small. Again thank you for your help. I also decided to email the Italian Consulate in Vancouver to see if they can direct me at all.
