Origin of surname

Post by taylahillfasolo »

I recently visited Italy because my mum is Italian and our family told us about my Nonno's dad so my Great Nonno. And he left my Nonno's mum before my Nonno was born and we found out his surname was Silot. We have a photo of him and he doesn't look very Italian. Was wondering is 'Silot' even of Italian origin? Please help :) thanks

There are currently 7 listings in the Italian Phone Book for the surname "Silot."
Many of them are from the City of Sacile in the Province of Pordenone (Northeastern part of Italy).

Possible alternate spelling? Zilot (Slavic origins?)
