Barbieri-DiLella Cerreto Sannita,Region-Campania,Benevento

Post by Patty-AnnDiLella »

I am looking for my great-grandparents. My grandmother's name is Pasqualina Barbieri-DiLella born November. 24, 1886 in Cerreto Sannita, Italy. I believe she was an only child & her parents' adopted a child in Italy. I'm looking for her mother, father, aunts, uncles, etc. any certificates, information, etc.. I believe her parents & grandparents never came to the USA. Also regarding my grandfather: Biagio Bernardo DiLella born August 20, 1877 in Cerreto Sannita, Italy. I believe his mother was Philomena Branca-DiLella. Biagio B. DiLella had 2 brothers Frank & James 3 sisters, Mariannina, Pasqualina (1891) and Margaret (1897). They came to the USA in the late 1800-early 1900 to Newburg, New York starting their family(ies). I have no information about their parents, great-grandparents, great-great grandparents in Cerreto Sannita, Italy or where they may have migrated from. Any information regarding this would be greeeaatly appreciated. Thank you for your anticipated help, Patty-Ann DiLella

Possible manifest for Biagio DiLella, arriving Boston 1904

He is 26, married and occupation is "bootmaker"
Leaving Cerreto Sannita, going to brother Adolfo in New York (then looks like New York is crossed out, and Newburg is written at end of line with a street address - Ash St?)

If you don't have Death Certificate of Biagio...

Connecticut Death Index, 1949-2001
about Biagi Dilella
Name: Biagi Dilella
Death Date: 13 Sep 1958
Death Place: New Haven, New Haven, Connecticut
Age: 81 Years
Birth Date: abt 1877
Marital Status: Married
Spouse: Pasq
State File #: 16046

If you have Biagio's SS# - you can request his Social Security Application (SS-5) which should have the names of his parents...

To request at this site
http://genealogy.about.com/gi/o.htm?zi= ... t/main.jsp

You can do the same for Pasqualina if she had a SS# :-)

Seems the above manifest for Biagio actually states he is going to Newburg, not New haven... :-)

Here is manifest (1905) for Pasqualina
Going to husband Biagi DiLella in Newburg, NY
Last place of residence Cerreto.

Hi Tessa78, I want to thank you for the information. I do have some info of Biagio DiLella records in the USA nothing about his brother Adolfo DiLella. Your information seem very accurate. I do have Newburg, New York address. My dad was born in Newburg, New York. The info I am looking for is the early years in Italy as they grew up. I do have photograps of my grandparents, Pasqualina Barbieri and Biagio B. DiLella, living in the New Haven, Connecticut USA with their children, that I will share. I will write the state officials in Cerreto Sannita, Italy for records & certificates and hope for the best. Thank you again, Patty-Ann DiLella

Two possibilities for brother Adolfo in 1900 US Census
- one in Newburg as a boarder (age 19), and one in New Haven (age 25), married to Vincenza...

Hi Tessa78, Thanks for the information. It looks interesting but the address I have associated with Newburg is Robinson Avenue, Newburgh, New York. That is the address on my Dad's 'Record of Birth'. The New Haven, CT address is Hamilton Street. Im still trying to research. 3 of my father's brother & sister were born in Newburgh, New York, 2 in Italy. Total number of children my grandparents had (Pasqualina Barbieri-DiLella and Biagio B. DiLella) are six. Onward I go trying to make some kind of connection with the Barbieri' and the DiLella families. At times I get a little discourage, but it nice to know there are some people out in cyberspace trying to help and help each other. Great websit. Thanks, Patty-Ann DiLella
