Question about Italian Marriages 1880s/Need help with record

Postby djm1228 » 08 Mar 2011, 03:57

My Great Grandmother (Luisa Carlucci) Married Antonio Murano in 1880. It's on the marriage index under Ruoti, Italy. However it's not under the acts of marriage for that year. I noticed that under their names there's a reference to 'Porte Leconida/Lecouda'. Does anyone recognize what that might mean?

Just a side note. The Carluccis had a lot of money and they didn't want her to marry him at all because he was a traveling salesman that sold copper pots. I believe he's from Picerno Italy. I'm told her family was pretty furious. Did that mean that they went elsewhere to get married?

Thanks, Diane

Is it possible to have larger images? If I zoom them they become blurry and unreadable.

Much better, thanks
The marriage is recorded in part 2 because it was not celebrated in the Town Hall, but was celebrated in Luisa's house situated in Via Piscone (?). The date is 1880 Dec 23 at 3pm
Luisa presented a medical certificate declaring that she was suffering from acute articular rheumatism and that she could not move. Therefore Rocco Carlucci, sitting fro the mayor, went to Luisa's house to celebrate the marriage!
