Need help reading SING SING Prison record

Postby LeandraCat » 18 Apr 2011, 14:05

I just received a copy of a Sing Sing Prison record for someone I believe to be a relative
However, I am having such a hard time figuring out what all of it says.
Can someone help me, please? Thanks! Here is the link to the file:

Record is for Antonio Schiro
Sentenced February 28, 1900
Received from NY (g.s.?) court
Precinct: Tombs Police Court (?)
Born in Italy, age 30, Occupation: Salesman and Collector
Then a physical description...
Complexion - Dark
Eyes - Dark Brown
Hair - Dark Brown
Hgt: 5 ft 4-1/2 inches
Wgt: 151
Read: yes
Write: yes
Habits: Mod (?)
Tobacco: yes
Religion: Catholic
Single
Address: 48 Mulberry St.

Relative/Friends...
cousin...Mariano Massa, 148 Elizabeth St. NY

What follows is another physical description which may be that of the cousin or the prisoner?
It describes the head round, and then I think gives a hat size; then shoe size. Medium sized ears, closed lobes. It mentions that his hair covers the forehead... Forehead round, heavy brows meeting at top of face..., small nose, small mouth and small chin..., Full round face, small teeth - good but discolored.
I can't read the last couple of lines...there is an abbreviation "cie" and it talks of his index finger and 3rd and 2nd finger (?)

Don't know why there is this extensive description...

Thanks! I was hoping it would give the reason for imprisonment, but since it gives SINGLE status, I don't think this is the guy I was looking for. The Antonio Schiro I was looking for, was married :(
