Picciano grandfather's family

Post by gbaluch »

I am looking for records on my grandfather, Pasquale Antonio Picciano, who lived on Mott Street, NYC when he got married at City Hall in 1896 to Maria Guiseppa Nicodemo. His parents were Vincenzo Picciano and Elenora Gentile/she is buried at St. John's Cemetery 1910. He emigrated from Italy around 1886 at age 10 or 11, maybe had a brother Nicola a year older. My mother who died in 2005 never knew anyone specifically who were his relatives. He died in 1932 in Queens and is also at St. John's cemetery. I do not have any information on Vincenzo. I am going crazy looking for some other relatives of his and wonder who he lived with those first days after arriving in NY. The manifest that may? have his names does not list any other Piccianos so I am truly at a loss. I have been on Ancestry for years, sent for Naturalization records, baptismal certificates, visited and called cemeteries, tried to find public school records and all to no avail. Sooooo, maybe someone may be able to give me some help. I would really appreciate anything anyone can tell me. The family lived in Brooklyn from 1897 until at least 1910 and then moved to Maspeth in Queens.

Nicola Picciano made a trip back in Italy and returned in USA in 1897(I believe that is the right Nicola Picciano):

the age maybe is 23 and not 33... joining at brother Pasquale, the address seeming just Motta st
