Ninivaggi Family

Postby rp76226 » 03 May 2011, 22:16

Looking for the birth, marriage, children, and death records of the brothers and sisters of Teresa Ninivaggi (born December 1 1858 and married to Michele Lorusso born August 13, 1858). Her parents were Francesco Ninivaggi and Caterina ?. Especially want to find the parents of Teresa Ninivaggi’s nephew also named Francesco Ninivaggi (plus his birth record) who was born about 1900 give or take a few years. He emigrated to America about 1920 and married Rafaella Nuzzo in 1924. They had 5 sons - Angelo, Dominic, Francesco, Nicolas, and Vito. Also interested in these son's families including, wives, children, and grandchildren.

I too have previously found the Ellis Island record with the mispelled name. I believe it is really Francesco Ninivaggi. The other Lorusso is not anyone I believe is part of my family. The town of Altamura does not seem to respond to my mailed inquiries. After several trys with no response, I've given up on them. I've used the family history centers before. Unfortunately the film quality and handwriting on the documents is generally awful. No way, even with the help of how letters were handwritten back then examples, to decipher most letters and therefore no way to translate the documents. Given that you need to painfully go through hundreds of these awful documents to possibly find one that might be useful, I've given up on that route.

Too bad :(

There are MANY volunteers here at IG who are very able to decipher these documents!

I've kept copies of some of these unreadable documents. How do I get them to these volunteers?

Here at the IG site there is a forum/board called "Italian Language, Handwriting, Scripts and Translations"...

Start a new topic at that forum where you can post your documents.

You can upload your images to an image-sharing site such as postimage.org (there is no need to register, and there is no cost)
http://postimage.org/

Copy and paste the link into your forum post so we can all view it. The more eyes - the better!
