Possible Letter to Church in Sicily

Postby sams » 11 May 2011, 01:17

I would like to further my research prior to 1799 and would like to write to the church in Bivona, Agrigento, Sicily requesting a possible look-up. Does anyone have experience getting information from church records thru letter writing? Is this my best course of action at this time.

Here is the letter I sent to the Curia Vescovile Diocese of Palermo asking for info on my 4x grandfather from Sant'Agata Palermo born between 1772-1777 I told them i would like a photo copy of the act of birth or christening and his parents names if they had them. I told them I already search the civil records and could not get anymore info from them.I ask them if they dont have the information where I might get it from I enclosed a donation and a self addressed enveloped with return postage and thank them for there time and effort. It took about 3 months for a responce. If anyone else has and other info please add.........
