Greystone Park Mental Hospital - Frank Morales

Postby LeandraCat » 24 May 2011, 20:46

Hi everyone,

I am looking for information on Frank F. Morales. Born around 1913 in Jersey City, son of Louis Morales and Francis Morales. Apparently Frank was a patient at the Greystone Park Mental facility in Morris Plains, NJ. When he was admitted I don't know. I also don't know if he was married. I know he died in 1970's.

Any info would really be appreciated!

Thanks!
Julia

Thanks! I do have this.

I just found out that Frank Morales was probably admitted to the mental institution around 1940. He escaped once, but his father brought him back. His father was paying all his bills and such until the father's death in 1968. Frank Morales was still at Greystone hospital in 1968.
I guess this means he was not married...I wish we had the 1940 census to look at!!!!

This is a real longshot, but if Greystone was a state-run hospital, you may be able to compel release of records under the state's Open Public Records Act.

Worst that can happen is that they will say no.

Ooh! Good to know! State Archives say that Greystone will release a date of admission and release, anything else has to be requested in writing with proof of relation (birth certificate, death certificate)...I think I will just call them and see what they say. This may have been so long ago that they don't even have the records anymore.
