Hi,
it is a bit hard to find the birth records as a well the right birth commune; the immigrants said Genoa generally, meaning some Commune of Liguria region;
I found the arrival of probable Bernardo Campodonico ( right spelling) in travel with Cesare Campodonico( brother of Bernardo) and Cesare's wife: Isabella..
England, Alien Arrivals, 1810-1811, 1826-1869 about Bernardo Campodonico
Name: Bernardo Campodonico
Port of Arrival: Dover, England
Arrival Date: 10 Jul 1838
Country of Origin/Native of: Italy

all musicians; in 1847 again Cesare with son Joseph:

In 1851 census, Bernardo is not in the Cesare home:

(obviously the right spelling is Isabella Campodonico)...
I am sure that you have the censuses of Bernardo from 1861 so I no insert it... but maybe this my reply can be helpful for you, equally, because maybe you can search also abt the birthplace of Cesare, Isabella, Giuseppe/Joseph Campodonico, because is the same where Bernardo was born....

Hello, I can confirm that my great-great grandfather was indeed Bernard, son of Juan, Campodonica. He worked in the music halls in Aberdeen as a violinist before moving to Whitehorse Close in Edinburgh's Royal Mile, where he was employed as a lamp lighter. His daughter was my father's grandmother. Hope this of interest, a reply would be most welcome.

Greetings, I'm researching Catherine Campedonica born 23 Grassmarket in 1873 to Madelina Campedonica. Catherine was in a home for orphans at age 7. Madelina went on to marry John McDonald. The Campedonica link has just been discovered. Would love to know about the family and discuss this sad story. Best wishes.

Do you think this Catherine is yours?

Nome: Catherine Campedonica
Sesso: Female
Data di nascita: 18 Dec 1873
Luogo di nascita: EDINBURGH,MIDLOTHIAN,SCOTLAND
Nome della madre: Madlina Campedonica

I also found this one:

Catherine Campedonica
Scotland Census, 1881

Sesso: Female
Età: 10
Luogo di nascita: Edinburgh
Distretto di registrazione: St Giles

Anno di nascita (approssimativo): 1871

that MIGHT be the same person.

This one MIGHT be her mother:

If this is the family, there's more in familySearch. Madeline and Catherine should be related to the family of previous posts.

Yes, thank you. It is certainly the same person. I have all the documents from Scotlands People website that prove that Madelina Campedonica's baby is the person we are looking at. Any info about the family is most welcome. Would love to hear from one of Madelina's descendants who might be able to tell us the reason that baby was put into an orphan home.
I'm most grateful for any guidance you can give.
Best wishes.

Hi
Bernard Campodonica married Margaret Gowie in Aberdeen. She was my Grandmothers Aunt.

I can give you some information about them. They ended up in Edinburgh.

I am also in touch with a descendant of his who is in Canada.

Best Wishes

Hello my name is Angela granddaughter of Charles Bland son of Charles Bland and Christina Bland ne Campodonica.
I am trying to find out about the Campodonica Family. What I have discovered myself is that Bernardo Campodonica arrives from Genoa to Dover in the year 1838 and is a musician. He plays in music halls and arrives in Aberdeen and marries Margaret Gowie in August 1853. They then arrive in Edinburgh and settle in the Canongate area ( I think they may have lived for a while in the Grassmarket) the family consist of two girls and a boy there may have been two other siblings that I am not quite sure about. Christina the second child of the family married my great grandfather and settled in Sugar House close in the Canongate. The same close I was brought up in until 1963.

Hello my name is Pamela Taylor and I am a direct descendent of Bernardo Campodonica through my grandfather James Muirhead. My grandfathers mother was Kate Campodinica. I have many family members still living in Edinburgh. I now live in Luxembourg with my husband Dave. Would love to hear from you. Pam
