Information about Maria Ogna

Postby adam74 » 05 Jun 2011, 13:14

Does anyone have any information like ship manifest for a Maria Ogna ( madden name pancera). or marriage certificate or birth certificate. She came to the United States on September 23,1907. Last residence in Italy is Brescia.

Adam,

How certain are you of that date? Where did it come from?

Looking at other posts regarding your family, I am not convinced that Pancera is the correct surname spelling (we have previously ruled out Pencera as well).

Do you have a date or year of birth for Maria?

Did she marry in Italy or in the US?

Any idea when she married?

What was her husband's given name?

Where did they reside in the US?

Well, sometimes you just get lucky...

Maria Oyna [Ogna] aged 27, travelling with her mother (I suspect really her mother-in-law), also named Maria, aged 55, leaving behind Maria 27's brother and Maria 55's son (son-in-law? something doesn't add up correctly in all this...), Giovanni Panzera. Panzera is a far more common surname in modern Italy than any of the others we have tried thus far; see http://www.paginebianche.it/execute.cgi ... &om=0&l=en

Her first marriage was in Italy to her first husband with the last name Ogna not sure of his first name. Here birthdate is May 6,1880 and sure of the date she came to america.

Her first husband either died in America or Italy we are not sure but her madden name was Maria Pancera daughter of Guiseppe Pancera and Rosa Zanetti.

See above. I am now 99% certain the correct spelling is Panzera.

What is the best was to get an Italian Marriage Certificate for Maria Panzera and Moses Oyna(Ogna) and Moses's birth certificate or parents names

Adam, given the amount of research you seem to be interested in, I sugeest you consider an Ancestry . com account for several months. You would be amazed at how much information is available to a dedicated researcher these days. :)

For Mosè birth certificate, write to:

Ufficio dello Stato Civile
Comune di Rezzato
Piazza Vantini 21
25086 Rezzato BS
ITALY

email: comune@comune.rezzato.bs.it
web: http://www.comune.rezzato.bs.it/comrez2/home/index

For Maria Panzera's birth certificate and most likely their marriage (marriages nearly always took place in the bride's comune):

Ufficio dello Stato Civile
Comune di Brescia
Palazzo Broletto
25121 Brescia BS
ITALY

web: http://www.comune.brescia.it/eventi

You can use a letter like this one, or search the forum for other examples:

[your address]

STATI UNITI D'AMERICA - USA

Ufficio dello Stato Civile

ITALY

Egregi Signori,

Mi chiamo [your name here], ed abito negli Stati Uniti all'indirizzo sopradetto.

Vi scrivo affinché mi aiutiate a reperire:

* Copia integrale dell'atto di Nascita

per il mio [your relationship to the person - see below]:

* OGNA MOSÈ nato nel Comune di Rezzato, in data [date of birth or 'circa 1884' for example], paternità [his father's given name if you know it else 'incerto'], maternità [mother's full maiden name if you know it "SMITH JANE" else 'incerto']

Vi prego di farmi sapere quanto dovuto per il servizio e per i costi di spedizione.

Distinti saluti,

[your signature]

Birth/marriage/death photocopies of original registry pages are called: Copia integrale dell'atto di Nascita/Matrimonio/Morte. These are more difficult to read but contain lots of additional useful information compared to...

Birth/marriage/death computer-generated (sometimes hand-written) extracts are: Estratto Per Riassunto Per Atto Di Nascita/Matrimonio/Morte

Most comuni do not charge for these documents. Do send a large, self-addressed (but not stamped) envelope if possible; be sure to put "STATI UNITI D'AMERICA - USA" in the final line of your address. It is also a good idea to include a copy of your ID (driver's license, for example) as some comuni want to see some form of ID.
