Need to find a death certificate in NJ
Im wondering if anyone here has access to NJ death records from the late 1800s into early 1900s. The person Im looking for was born Carmela Melchiorre. But her married surname would be Passaro. Also, she went by a nickname of Meluzza. She died in Jersey City NJ between 1898 and 1905. Anyone have access to these records? She would have been around 30 -40 years old at death.
Re: Need to find a death certificate in NJ
Just another thought after reading about this in your other thread - if you track this down, is it possible to request a 'genealogy copy' of the death record? You mentioned that if the death was later than 1901 that you must prove that you are somehow related in order to obtain the document. I would think that the consulate just might accept a copy of the record since the person wasn't a member of your family. Just a thought.
Do you know where the two children from this relationship died or were buried? Maybe the mother is buried in the same place?

Re: Need to find a death certificate in NJ
Sorry, disregard. I see now that there is already a recommendation on the other thread to obtain a copy.

Re: Need to find a death certificate in NJ
Im not sure where they are buried. I know they died in Jersey City. The largest cemetery in JC is where my family is buried, but Carmela and the kids arent there

Have you looked on that site 'Find a Grave'?
Do you know much about the history of this woman? Can you verify any of the facts of her life? How do you know she died in Jersey City? No offense intended by ANY means by the questions. Just brain-storming...

DeFilippis78: you have 1900 census?
It could be helpful for to know if Carmela was listed and the birthyear also; if you have it, and Carmela was alive, in this case she died after 1900 census... instead if in 1900 she is not, maybe she died at childbirth, around same death date of the son (25 Jun 1898):

The "Male Passaro" and Carmela Passaro are the two children Im talking about that died. They are Carmela Melchiorres children. I never found the 1900 census and Ive looked for a very long time. The family started in Jersey City and stayed there until their death. Im assuming I will have to contact archives and vital records to have a search for Carmela's death
Re: Need to find a death certificate in NJ
