Surname "Perlot" in Trento (Fai Della Paganella)

Postby JuliART314 » 01 Jul 2011, 05:17

Hello,

Searching for any clues as to the origins of the surname "Perlot". Our family comes from the town of Fai Della Paganella. The name looks french and there is legend in the family that attributes it to Napolean's army coming over the Alps and settling in Fai. Any hints or clues out there? There are many Perlots remaining in Fai today.

Have exhausted EVERY Ancestry.com outlet.

Many thanks.

There are two sources -- the microfilmed records for Fai della Paganella, which go back to the year 1751. These are copies of the actual church records for births, deaths, and marriages, and can be viewed at LDS Family History Centers around the US (check http://www.familysearch.org for the one closest to you), and
the online Trentino birth database at http://www.natitrentino.mondotrentino.net . You have to register (free). This is an abstract of birth records for years 1815-1923. I checked the Perlot name in Fai (you can check in 10-year increments) and there is info for many Perlot's.
Researching Iob (Job, Yob), Dalpiaz, Zanon in villages of Cunevo and Flavon (Trentino) and Romano in Spadafora (Sicily).

Hi Sal and Thank You!

Unfortunately, we are not near one of those LDS sites, and their main website does not seem to support searching...so you must physically go to one of these locations?

Yes I did find many Perlots using that Trentino link! Thank you so much. Since the mystery lies before 1815, we'll have to keep looking, but this will provide us a great stepping stone to discover new relatives!

Any other leads are always welcome :)

Yes, you have to physically visit one of the Family History centers. However, check with your local public library or a college library. Many of them will order the film for you and you can view the film at the library.
