Luigi Sciabarrasi

Postby kgp70282 » 08 Jul 2011, 05:46

Luigi Sciabarrasi was born November 30, 1850 in Catania,Italy I believe and married Marchina Rizzo. They immigrated to Baltimore, Maryland. Now I am having trouble with a few things. One is, Luigi passed here in Baltimore he died February 4, 1923 and I have the death certificate but I am not able to find out what his mothers name was off the record because it is illegable is there a way to find out?

Also, from the 1910 Census I have I found out they had 5 children and only 3 survived. The 1910 census documents 2 of the 5 children my great Grandfather Guiseppe and his sister Petrina. Now I also have a ship manifest for 1899 that document another 2 of their children Teresa Sciabarrasi she was 15yrs old and a Pietro Sciabarrasi who was 13. The issue I have is after this manifest there is no other documentation of them how can I find out what happened to them?

Have you looked at this web site under Louis Sciabarrasi? The 1920 Census comes up with a Louis and then lists his family members.

https://www.familysearch.org/

To find his mother's name it would be best to find his birth record or his marriage record in the town where these events took place. There are microfilmed records available to rent and read at a Mormon Family History Library. Not sure if these records are posted yet on Ancestry.com (perhaps, someone reading this would know more about it). When you say he was born in "Catania", do you mean the Province of Catania or the town of Catania. The records are held at the town level, so you need to be sure which town he was born in.

Thank you guys so much for all the help! He is from Nicosia. I just wish that I could find out his mothers name. However, pink67 I have been trying to figure out who from the ship manifest who they were coming to see! Adelfio I have a marriage record for his son Guiseppe and it said both Nicosia and Catania. I was just assuming. Bette, thank you I am trying to form a letter to send overseas I hope I will be able to figure it out :)

Okay, Carmelo I have no idea how to find any information on him.. I have tried looking him up on Ancestry and NOTHING. I was hoping to find a death record on Carmelo to see what his parents names were..
