The above manifest date agrees with this 1930 Census for Joseph L. Morabito and family in Santa Clara, CA...

More questions! : )

Postby Italianprincess2 » 05 Aug 2011, 09:17

I am interested in finding parental information about the following people:
Joseph Bondi born 1878 in Italy (parents from Italy), immigrated 1890, residence San Jose Ward 2, Santa Clara and spouse Regina Sunseri born 1878 in Italy, immigrated 1893, children Mary and Silver.

I would like to find the names of Joseph and Regina's parents and where in Italy they are from.

I also have a question about microfilms. When I go to a FHC, do I ask for the ufficio dello stato civile 1820-1910? Should the films already be there or will I need to order them?

Thank you for your help!

Hello again! :-)

Let's start with the FHC

They do not house the films, you must order them (and pay the rental at the time of ordering). They arrive in about 3-4 weeks and you have them for a month. If you want to renew the rental, you can do so for another month. If you choose to renew a third time...you get to keep the film for extended/unlimited time :-)

Go to this site to search the LIBRARY... LIBRARY CATALOG by PLACE - http://www.familysearch.org/eng

Type in the town, then "ITALY" in the "part of" box. You will see the civil registrations link if they are available.

For example:
Here are the civil registrations available for Mazarra del Vallo
http://familysearch.org/eng/library/fhl ... azara+de++

Print the page and decide which films to order (ordering AND viewing MUST be done at the FHC)

BTW - Nati = births; morti = deaths; matrimoni = marriages; processetti and allegati are additional records, usually filed when a marriage contract is made - has births and deaths included; pubblicazione = marriage banns (publication).

Is that your Family Tree on Ancestry? owner is RaymondStandard...

Posted there are the 1910 and 1920 Census for Joseph and Regina Bondi and family.
Noticed that on 1910 Census this is the SECOND MARRIAGE for both Joseph and Regina.
As you stated Joseph arrived (according to the census) in 1890
Regina lists immigration as 1893...
Family above them in 1910 on the Census is "Sunseri"
Both children born in California
By 1920 ... Joseph is widowed, and only Mary, 17, living at home.

Found a 1930 Census for Joseph Bondi - POSSIBLY the same person
Living in Gilroy, Santa Clara, California
Remarried... about 8 years to VINCENZA
He is a barber - age is about right

1930 United States Federal Census
