Vincenzo Bruno - Somerset County, Pennsylvania - d. 1938

Post by jayfday »

I am starting my search for where from in Italy began the journey of Vincenzo Bruno of Somerset County (Central City) Pennsylvania - d. 1938 at maybe 69 years old. Married to Mary (d.- 1949) also at maybe 69 years old. Together they had many children including my grandmother, Martha who was about 11 when Vincenzo died.

The Bruno family lived in Central City for sometime.

Martha Bruno b. Feb. 12, 1927 in Windber, Pennsylvania. Still alive and in California.

Vincenzo may have come over in 1901 at age 31 on the Belgravia out of Napels.
Mary (Maria) followed sometime later and may have come over in 1903 at age 22 with a last residence listed as Belmonte C.

This info is scattered since my Grandmother isn't sure of the arrival dates or where exactly in Calabria (if Calbria) her parents originated in Italy.

Any help would be great.

Suanj - WOW! That's him. He did call himself James/Jim. Wow. Those are the names and ages of all of my grandmother's brothers and sisters. Thank you so much.

Any advice on how to find what town in Calabria he came from? I know it mentions Belmonte...

Thank you again... you've given me much hope to solving this puzzle for my grandmother, my father and my children (even though my children don't know it yet).

Grazie.

if you think that this record is abt Vincenzo Bruno wife, I believe no right, because she joining at husband Carmine CICERO and not at Vincenzo Bruno:

First Name: Maria
Last Name: Bruno
Ethnicity: Italy, Italian South
Last Place of Residence: Belmonte C.
Date of Arrival: Oct 21, 1903
Age at Arrival: 22y Gender: F Marital Status: M
Ship of Travel: Napolitan Prince
Port of Departure: Naples
Manifest Line Number: 0007

http://www.ellisisland.org/EIFile/popup ... &line=0007
so it is not your ancestor...
it are several Vincenzo Bruno emigrated, but by WWI draft registration card no italian birthplace...
I cannot find a Vincenzo bruno born on 2 may 1879 in Belmonte Calabro by Cosenza archive....

Hi Suanj - You are correct. It was a guess on my part based on limited info from my gradmother, Martha Bruno. Maria's maiden name was Miccelli (I'm told... and I'm not sure of the spelling).

Thank you so much. You've already given my more that I could have found on my own.

Hi Suanj -

also... My Grandmother, Martha Bruno, had always said that Vincenzo was 10 years older than Maria. Not sure if that is true... since the census indicates that they were the same age. I will show her this info and see if she can shed some light on Maria's maiden name and where from in Italy Vincenzo may have been born.

Thanks again.
