Salvatore Segneri/Segnere, circa February 17, 1892

Postby JJTarheel » 07 Aug 2011, 03:48

Hi,

I am doing research on my husband's great grandfather, Salvatore Segnere, who I believe was born in Frosinone, Italy circa February 17, 1892. When he immigrated from Frosinone in 1911 or so out of the port of Naples it looks like immigration may have changed his surname from Segneri to Segnere. Some census records have him as Segnere and others Segneri. He lived all of his life in the US in Pennsylvania. He died in Pottstown in Sept 1966, i believe. He was married to Theresa DiAngelo (born in Italy circa April 7, 1901), though it's not clear in the family if they married in Italy or in PA. Some of us think it had to have been in PA. They had at least 3 boys: Henry, Salvadore (aka Sam), and Albert.

I guess what i'm primarily interested in figuring out is what part of Frosinone, Salvatore may have grown up in. I have reason to believe he was baptized in a Catholic Church and think that it might be helpful to find that baptism certificate from Italy, but i'm not sure how to do that. Any thoughts, comments, direction, and overall help is appreciated.

Frosinone is a town and comune in Lazio, central Italy, the administrative seat of the Province of Frosinone.[1] It is located about 75 km south-east of Rome
Family History Libaray has films for Registri dello stato civile di Frosinone (Frosinone), 1871-1899
I would start there in the town of Frosinone for records first its only 5.75 for film rental

I believe Ferentino is a town in Frosinone. I know that there some people with the surname Segneri live in Ferentino.

The Catholic Directory link above has a list of churches in Ferentino.
