Help: Grandparents Giovanni Gaggia and Maria Bounamici

Postby claudiog » 09 Sep 2011, 10:36

Hello and thank you for this wonderful platform to assist in finding my ancestors in Italy!
I am battling to find more information on our family lineage - GAGGIA - and was hoping that someone can help?
I have information up to my Grand Parents and then I get stuck...
I want to know:
When was my grandfather and grandmother born and in when exactly did they die?
Who were their parents - I want to go back down the GAGGIA lineage as well as the Buonamicci line to fill in the blanks!

My father and his brother and sisters were born on a small farm in Lunano, Marche, Italy.
My Grandparents were Giovanni Gaggia and Maria Buonamici.
They had 4 children: Gina Gaggia, Franco Gaggia (emigrated to Germany), my Father Elio Gaggia (emigrated to South Africa) and Rosina Gaggia.
As far as I know they were all born in Lunano.
I know My Grandfather died of Pneumonia when my father (Elio) was still very young - I believe he died in Lunano.
Not sure where my grandmother died (if she was still in Lunano or not).

Where do I start looking for this information? Who can help me?

Thanking you in anticipation,

Claudio Gaggia
Port Elizabeth, South Africa

Welcome to the website. What about birth years and did they settle in the US? This will help researching.

Thanks for the welcome!
Thats the problem - I do not know their birth years.
I don't believe they ever left Italian soil. I know they both died in Italy and their children were all born in Italy.

There are italian records from Lunano through Family History Library birth death and marriage. Lunano is a small town and comune in the province of Pesaro e Urbino in the Marche region of central Italy.
