Imbruglia - Scarmato

Postby Maxene Imbruglia » 13 Sep 2011, 03:35

I am trying to find information on Stefano Imbruglia and Teresa Scarmato who were both from Milazzo, Sicily. They married and raised their family in Lipari, Sicily. Does anyone have any information that could help? I have no dates, but their son Giuseppe (my father-in-law)was born in 1917 so I am guessing late 1800s. Any assistance will be gratefully received. Maxene Imbruglia :)

Welcome Maxene to the website.Did they come to the US at all? If they did where did they settle? Also I see that Family History Library has Italian records available for both Milazzo Registri dello stato civile, Milazzo (Messina), 1820-1910 and Lipari Registri dello stato civile di Lipari (Messina), 1820-1910 so could order films from Family History to view Italian record of Birth (nati) Death (death) or marriage (matrimoni)

hi Marty. :) Teresa and Stefano moved from Milazzo to Lipari in the Aeolian Islands off Sicily. They never went to America although I know some relatives went to Argentina and some could also have gone to USA. Two of their sons migrated to Australia but that was not till the 1950s. Teresa and Stefano both lived the rest of their lives in Lipari. I have a relative travelling in Europe at the moment and have sent an SMS to see if they could get a copy of Teresa and Stefano's death certificates which should give me a bit more information to work with.I feel doubly hampered - I don't speak Italian and I have no dates at all!
Thanks for the links you have provided. I'll see how I go. Maxene
