Fusco Relatives

Postby Amansolillo » 17 Sep 2011, 03:38

My great-grandfather was Domenico Fusco. He was the son of Francesco Fusco and Maria Palmer Sinape. He immigrated to Rhode Island in 1910. His sister Teresa immigrated there in 1907. I would like some insight on information on Civita Fusco, and Serafina Fusco, who I suspect to be Domenico and Teresa's sisters. Civita Fusco married Domenico Ciccone and Serafina married a Sinapi.
Last names of interest: Mansolillo, Morena, Grasso, Montecalvo, Fusco, Sinapi, DelBonis, Grossi, Sormanti, Cocuzzoli, Simonelli, Bevilacqua, Uccello, Cultrera, Pesaturo, Fragola

Hi :-)

What records have you already found? I noticed you stated the years of immigration for both Domenico and Teresa... do you have these manifests?

Did these marriages take place in USA or Italy?
If Italy, what town/city?

The only records I have found for Domenico and Teresa were census records. I made an error on Domenico's year of immigration. It was 1906, not 1910. It is to my understanding that Civita and Serafina never immigrated to America and remained in Italy. I neglected to mention that the four of them were from Itri

Noticed on the 1925 Rhode Island Census that there is a family "DelBonis" living next door to the Fusco Family...
Father - Pasquale
Wife - Mary
Daughters: Mary and Fannie

Is Pasquale related to Bettina?

Do you have this census?

Yes. My great-grandmother was Bettina DelBonis. She had five brothers (Biaggio, Paolo, Pasquale, Carlo, Antonio), and two sisters, one was Teresa DiVona, the other is unknown to me. Now, as far as Domenico and Bettina's parents go, I believe their mothers' names may have been mistaken by the record-taker, as Domenico and Bettina's mothers' names were Maria Palmer(?) Sinape and Maria Civita Grossi, respectively, to my understanding

OK...don't know if you have this manifest for Elisabetta (Bettina) :-)

Arriving Boston, June 1907 on the Romanic
Elisabetta De Bonis, 20, single from Itri
Going to brother Antonio De Bonis at 1411 Cranston St., Providence RI
She is traveling with her brother Biase De Bonis, 34, and nephew Giuseppe, 9, both of whom are also going to brother/uncle Antonio De Bonis at 1411 Cranston St.

The line #'s are cut off on the left side, but they are toward the bottom 1/4 of page...

I had known that Biaggio and his son Joseph immigrated in that year, but was unaware that Bettina came with them

Civita and Serafina would most likely have been married in their own town (bride's town), so you might want to write to the Comune of Itri for marriage records...

Address:
Ufficio dello Stato Civile
Piazza Umberto I
04020 Itri (LT)

OR -
you might also wish to write to one of the Ciccone or Sinapi listings in the Italian Phone Book to inquire about relatives...
Ciccone (there are 22)

Sinapi (there are 39)
