"Varrchio"? Other possibilities?

Postby DebiHarbuck » 21 Sep 2011, 03:19

Finally located the death certificate for Antonio Pisano (b.1850, San Martino VC - d. 1927, Staten Island, NY). It gives his parents names as 'John' Pisano and 'Josephine' Varrchio. Varrchio appears almost no where in any record; any thoughts about what this last name might actually be?

Hello,

In San Martino Valle Caudina, Avellino, Campania.

The nearest i can find is 'Varrecchia'

Which is very close to my ancestors spelling in Cassino - Verrecchia!

Awesome, Tessa, thanks! (You'd given me that link before, but when my computer crashed, I lost the bookmark).

Jamie & Marty - can you point me to a link where I can view names common to this commune/area?
