Hello, I am looking for information (birth dates, death dates, pictures, stories, extended family, etc.) on my grandparents. Hopefully someone maybe able to fill in some holes...

My 4th great grandparents: Domenico Petraglia m. Carmela Pomponio. Only have that info on their one son, my 3rd great grandfather. I have no other information, dates, etc.

My 3rd great grandparents: Rocco Petraglia (born 17 Apr 1828, Ferrandina) m. Nunzia Recchia (b. 28 Oct 1828, Ferrandina). I have that they had only two boys. Nunzia's parents are Giuseppe Vincenzo Recchia and Camila Canitano.

My 2nd great grandparents: Giuseppe (Joseph) Petraglia, Sr. (born 29 May 1852, Ferrandina, died 06 Oct 1928 NY) m. Camilla Digrottole on 26 une 1870 in Ferrandina. I have the names of all of their children. Camilla's parents are Pasquale Digrottole and Antonia Campaniello.

My great grandparents: Pasquale (Charlie) Petraglia (b. 28 Jul 1875 in Ferrandina, d. 01 Apr 1962 in NY) m. Maria Carmela Passeri (b. 13 Feb 1877, Genzano DiLucania Prov Potenza, d. 27 Mar 1935, NY). I have the info on their 5 children but have no information on Maria Passeri's parents and family.

Thank you!

Hi Lisa :-D

My great grandparents: Pasquale (Charlie) Petraglia (b. 28 Jul 1875 in Ferrandina, d. 01 Apr 1962 in NY) m. Maria Carmela Passeri (b. 13 Feb 1877, Genzano DiLucania Prov Potenza, d. 27 Mar 1935, NY). I have the info on their 5 children but have no information on Maria Passeri's parents and family.

Here is the birth record from Genzano for Maria Carmela Passeri :-)

Record #34
Recorded 16 February 1877 at 10:15 AM at the town hall.
Before the official appeared Biagio Passeri, 39, Veterinary, residing in Genzano, to declare that at 11:10 PM on the 13th of the current month at the house on Via Garibaldi #76, to Antonietta d'Angelis, his wife living with him, was born a female child who he presented to the official and to whom was given the name Maria Carmela Passeri.
Witnesses to the recording of this act were Michele Scozzanello, 64; and Domenico Denozza, 37.

Looks like Pasquale and Maria Carmela were married in NYC in 1895
The marriage certificate may hold more information :-)

From NYC Vital Records Marriage Index

Petraglia Pasquale Jun 11 1895 Manhattan 9561
Passeri Carmela Jun 11 1895 9561 Manhattan

If you don't have this record, you can order using Cert.# 9561 and borough of Manhattan, at this site...

Lisa,

My name is John LaFianza, and I too am a direct descendant of Domenico Petraglia and Carmela Pomponio. They are my 3x great grandparents. Domenico was born in 1795 and Carmela in 1800, both in Potenza. They had a daughter Maria Lucia (which later became Maria Luigia) in 1821, also in Potenza. They relocated to Ferrandina sometime thereafter, and Maria Luigia married Giovanni LaFianza in 1839. They had several children including my great-grandmother Maria Rosaria in 1851. She never married but had three sons, and all came to the US in 1897. One of the sons was my grandfather Giovanni. They lived in NYC but he married and moved to moved to Jersey City, NJ early on. We have a large extended family and I'd like to share family trees with you. I also have documentation on Domenico and Carmela which I'd be happy to share. Please contact me at JLLAF@optonline.net to discuss further. Thanks!
