Searching for Paolinelli in Lucca and Bologna

Postby Scribe4264 » 04 Dec 2011, 08:14

My Grandfather Amos came to the U.S. in 1890s from Mastiano Lucca but one document says he was born in Bologna and his father was Guiseppe Paolinelli.

Welcome to the website.Where did he settle in Texas? Did he marry? What was his wifes name? Since you have different places of birth you might have to check both places. Mastiano is a frazione (suburb)of comune di Lucca so the civil records are kept in the comune for the fraziones. There are Births, marriage banns, marriages, deaths, ten year indexes for Lucca 1866-1935 available at Family History Library on micro film for rent and viewing for $5.50 for 90 days.

FYI - There is a frazione (village/hamlet) by the name of Bolognana in the Comune of Gallicano - Province of LUCCA

BTW - While I was looking at the family tree for Amos David Paolinelli on Ancestry, I noticed that only the first page of the US passport was saved. In case you don't have it...here is the second page of the US Passport Appl. with a physical description and photo of Amos :-)

I also noticed on the US Passport application that he states he arrived in 1893 from Genoa, arriving New York. Do you have that manifest?
