Postby justemoi » 04 Dec 2011, 17:25

Hello! After many name spelling changes I have finally narrowed down my search. If anyone has information or access to records for the rolling, it would be greatly appreciated...

My great grandfather - Rocco Ianniello married to Rose (Smith?)
My great great grandfather - Pasquale Ianniello married to Angelica (?)
from Castelforte/Castelfranco (are these the same place?

I can't seem to find anything.
Thank you so much!

There are several Castelfranco and Castelforte in Italy, and I don't think there's a town with both names.
Do you have the documents in which you found such place names?
Who is the first of your ancestors who went to America? Have you found his Ellis Island manifest?
These can be useful info to help you.

no, they are no same places, however considering the surname:
-Castelforte( in the past in Caserta province/Campania region, IT, in Latina province/ Lazio region, IT currently)
-Castelfranco ( most probably is Castelfranco in Miscano, Benevento province, Campania region, IT)

I no found Rocco Ianniello ( also spelled Janniello in the past) arrival, but I found:
Boston Passenger and Crew Lists, 1820-1943 about Filippo Menchella
Name: Filippo Menchella
Arrival Date: 30 Oct 1920
Age: 32
Estimated Birth Year: abt 1888
Gender: Male
Ethnic Background: Italian
Port of Departure: Naples, Italy
Ship Name: Cretic
Port of Arrival: Boston, Massachusetts
Friend's Name: Rocco Ianniello
Last Residence: Italy
Birthplace: Caserta, Italy

last residence Castelforte, wife Rosa Ianniello in Castelforte, joining at brother in law Rocco Ianniello in Rochester, NY...
the Rocco Ianniello in Rochester, NY could be your ancestor? Where he lived? When he born?? the father, Pasquale, also emigrated? You can add more details abt your ancestor? thanks,
suanj

Here is the information that I have:

Yaniello, Rocco M. Dec. 28, 1895 ( obit says 1894 ) Castelfort, Italy - Jan. 12, 1977 Towanda, Pa. Son of Pasquale and Angelica Yaniello. Rose Josephine Smith 1899 - 1971

I have been searching ancestry.com forever and can not find Angelica or Pasquale. I have tried Iannello, Ianniello, (which have been documented as possible spelling changes in my family) and all other variations.

Any ideas? Thanks bunches!
