Durante Family

Great grandfather is Salvatore Durante born November 11 1886. He was married in Acri, Cosenza region of Calabria to a lady but I can't find her name. When he came to the US on the Tartar Prince in 1907 the passenger manifest shows he came alone so where did his first wife go? I was told my great grandmother's name was Marie. I don't know what her maiden last name was but she and my great grandfather were married here in the US in Brooklyn, NY. Marie was born in Acri, Italy as well but by all indications Salvatore and Marie married in the US in 1911. He was some kind of merchant.

They had several children one of which was my grandfather James Peter Durante Sr. born in 1917 in Brooklyn, NY died in February 2008 in Long Boat Key Florida. He was prominent labor lawyer on the east cost in the 40's and 50's. He married twice as well but my grandmother was his first wife Frances Mack. My grandmother was born in Illinois in 1917. Her mother was a published poet and rare for the time, female aviator Bertha Mack. Her father had been killed when she was very young. His name was Harry Mack and he was a banker born in Liverpool, UK some time in the late 1800s. Bertha was also an immigrant from Siracusa, Italy. I don't know when either of them immigrated. My grandmother Frances was a fashion model in the mid to late 30's through the 40's.

My father's name was James Peter Durante Jr. and he was born in Hartford, CT and raised in the Bronx son and only child of my grandfather James Peter Durante Sr. and Frances Mack. My father was born December 11th 1954 and died July 6, 2003. He married once to my mother Cheryl. My brother James Peter Durante III and myself were the only two children. We were both born in New York City.

I am trying to find some of the missing links in my family b/c I have been told a lot of colorful stories of Salvatore my great grandfather and some of his children over the years. So I am trying to find answers to questions such as where are all of those children and how many of those children belong to Marie my great grandmother? I say this b/c Ana Durante a sibiling of my grandfather was born in Italy not in New York even though Marie and Salvatore hadn't married until they were in the US.

Does anyone have any family that lived in Acri, Italy who immigrated to Ellis Island on the Tartar prince in the early 1900's? Acri is not a large town. It is relatively small so anyone who has the last name Durante from Acri, Italy if you would please send me a message so we can talk some more.
