Duke of Asti, an Amato

Post by Donald66 »

Trying to locate information on the Antonio Amato, Duke of Asti. His mother was Costanza de Angota & I believe she was an ancestor of mine.

The Amato/Angotta connection is based in Messina, Sicily approx. the year 1650.

Any ideas?

I know not if is the same Antonio Amato that you are searching for, however I found:

Filippo AMATO (1600s)duke of Asti and Count of Caccamo, that had a son:

Antonio AMATO d. 25 mar 1691 (Antonio's mother was: Agata BUGLIO)also duke of Asti and Count of Caccamo, as a well Alcantara Knight, married at Francesca AGLIATA (also spelled sometime: Alliata or Agliati; daughter of Villafranca Prince);

Antonio children:
-Andrea AMATO* married at Alessandra RUSSO of Cerami Lords, and by Andrea and Alessandra was born Filippo Antonio AMATO( married at Belladama SETTIMO).
- Giovanni Maria AMATO b. 25 Jul 1660( Jesuit and writer)

etc....

Yes, I believe this is. Should have said grandmother, not mother, my mistake.

My research uncovered a Don Antonio de Amato y Buglio, Duke of Asti, that was inducted into the Spainish Knightly Order of Alcantara, his paternal grandmother was stated to be Dona Constanza de Angota, a native of Sicily.

Trying to confirm the link between myself & Dona Constanza.
