Postby wall34 » 05 Jan 2012, 04:23

I'm interested in finding information on my Italian roots in Gesso. I have been told by family here in the USA that this town in Messina province is where they came from. My bisnonno is Santo D'Agostino b. 17 Sep 1843. m bisnonna Antonia Giacobbe(Giacopo)b.07 Mar 1858. Santo padre-Frank D'Agostino. Antonia padre-Antonio Giacobbe. Antonia madre- Concetta Macri. Santo and Antonio where married and had one child prior to imagration to USA. Figlia name Nancy D'Agostino b. 02 Aug 1878. I would very greatful to find out if there is still family there also.

Thanks for the heads up Tessa. I checked the census records to see when they emigrated and it showed 1880 for him and 1882 for her .

Thanks for posting the immigration dates :-)

Found this 1900 Census for Santo D'Agostino living in NJ - Last name was BADLY transcribed :-(
Could this be your family? Immigration date is listed as 1879 for Santo, and 1880 for Annie (Antonia?)
No daughter Nancy on this census, but she would have been 22yo...maybe married?

Yes to the family tree. I shared it with Pat. Pat married into the family and is wife of Katherines (Carrie) grandson. Nancy was born in Italy and already married by then. She showed up as Nancy Rizzotte livng next house down with husband Peter Rizzotte.
