del Busso and Iacovantuono Surnames

Postby cglardon34 » 11 Feb 2012, 16:53

Looking for any information on my maternal great grandparents. Costanzo del Busso and Filomena Iacovantuono. They were born in 1885 and 1883 respectively in Spinete. I would love to get any information on their parents or other relatives. I have their immigration records and marriage record index. They were married in early 1906 and Costanzo left Naples in June 1906 for America through Ellis Island. Filomena joined him in 1909.

Again any information would be greatly appreciated and solve this long mystery of my Italian roots!

Hi,
In the case that you don't have it, this is the 1912 arrival manifest in NY for Filomena's brother Nicola, from the site Ellisisland.org:

22 march 1912

Iacovantuono Nicola, age 38, male, married, farmlabourer, place of birth and last residence in Italy Spinete, leaving in Spinete his wife Vittoria, going to Dunbar PA to join his brother in law Costantino Del Busso

Thank you Laura,
I did not have this trip. I do have a Nicola Iacovantuono traveling to the US in 1903. I think I need to revisit the Ellis Island website and see if this is the right Nicola since the 1912 manifest says he visited in 1906-1908.

There has been some debate about the first letter of his surname. Can you confirm that it is spelled with an "I" or "J".

Hi cglardon34,

My wife and I just happened to find this site and saw your post... Constantine (or Constantino) and Philomena were my paternal grandparents. I don't know very much about them, but my father was the second youngest of 6 children as far as I know.

If they are your maternal great-grandparents, that makes your mother my cousin. I'm very interested to know who you are and how we're related. I'll send you a PM with my email address in case you'd like to discuss.
