Tracing Carbone/Farone family from Palermo, Sicily

Postby SandKay56 » 20 Feb 2012, 05:08

I am tracing my husband's family tree from Sicily. The only information I have so far on the Carbone side of the family is that Joseph Carbone came to the US on March 16, 1910 at age of 19. He was from Palermo, Sicily. We have a copy of the ship's manafest that shows he was a passenger coming to America. He came through Ellis Island. The only other information I have is he was a desendant from Bartolomeo Carbone who went to Palermo, sicily in the 14th century from Italy.

Joseph Carbone married Elizabeth Farone. Their children were Carmen (my father-in-law), Sam, Charlie, Clara, Mary, and Angie. Aunt Angie is the only one left living from her family. My father-in-law passed away two years ago in May. Joseph was a construction worker in Cleveland, OH. They lived in Little Italy section of Cleveland off of Murray Hill. This is the only information that I have of my husband's grandfather and his family. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Marty ,

Thank you. The documents that you sent to me are for my husband's grandfather Joseph Carbone, thank you very much.

As for Elizabeth, for her information thank you. At least now I know the correct spelling of her last name.

My husband will be astounded when I present him with these documents on his birthday. This has been a labor of love to help my husband trace his family outside of the U.S.

Again thank you. Grazie.

Thank you very much. Wow, this will be a big suprise for my husband. Thank you. You have given me so much information. It is really amazing to find out that Grandpa Joesph Carbone came to the U.S. with his mother and sister. My husband will be truly amazed. Thank you for giving me a good foundation to trace for the Carbone family. This will be something for my children and grandchildren to treasure and pass onto thier children.

Again thank you.

We found out more about Isabella Faraone. When she came over to the US by herself, she actually came to Cleveland, OH and lived with her brother Calogero (Charlie) Faraone, we are not sure, but we think that Roasrio Faraone moved back to Sant'Agata di Mitittatelo, Sicily. We found her mother and father, Salvatore Faraone and Maria Sabasture Faraone. This was a big find, but we do not know what happened to her parents and her other siblings. Making headway in the Carbone/Faraone search and finding out very interesting details about my husband's grandparents and great grandparents.

So far we found that Joseph Carbone's mother was Teresa Carbone, she was widowed by 1910. Have not found records of his father. We also found out that his sister lived with his mother in New York, not sure if it was Upper New York State, or New York City. Also have not found where they became naturalized citizens at. We are thinking in New York since his mother lived there. Also no other records for him, his mother and sister immigrating through Ellis Island before their natualization. We are now thinking that they may have came to the US via Canada. Still searching.

Found Joseph Carbone's sister's name, Jammil. Also found that his sister and mother lived in Rochester, NY. Now to find his father.
