Old time occupations

Postby ajcris13 » 21 Mar 2012, 02:43

Hello,

Would someone be kind enough to offer a translation of the following occupations:

1)di Condizione Mastro di Casa
2) Scribente
3) Cambiamoneta
4)di Condizione Impiegato Civile

I must apologize for the spelling the handwriting on the original document is difficult to decipher.
The period of time is the 1820's, place Napoli, Napoli (Stella district).

Thanks

Artie

Heres a good website for occupations
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.anc ... ngocc.html

If you post the document by using a photo storage site like postimage.org you dont have to join just upload image and copy and paste the thumbnail to this message as a reply with your right mouse button we can see the writing and might be able to help you better with a look :D

Hi,

1) Mastro di Casa = master of ceremonies (normally.. hired from noble peoples)
2) Scribente = calligrapher, pen pusher or so
3) Cambiamoneta = money-changer
4) Impiegato Civile = office worker
