Hello wabash :-)

Here is the birth record of Giuseppe D'Agostino from Campobello di Licata.
It is birth act #280, recorded on the 26 August 1878
The father, Giuseppe D'Agostino, age 27, cart driver, declared that at
8:10 AM on the 26th of the current month, to a woman with whom he had a union, neither married nor a relative.. (so he did not name the mother)
was born a male child, who he presented to the official, and to whom was given the name
Giuseppe...

The notation in the left column indicated that in an act of recognition in 1898, Giuseppe was recognized by Agata Lo Curto as her natural born son.

I found this act of recognition from 1898...
It recognizes Giuseppe D'Agostino (born 1878) and Giuseppa D'Agostino (born 1898) as the natural born children of Agata Lo Curto.

Bottom right

I know that doesn't help you find current relatives, but I hope it will help you in your search :-)

Is this your Joseph(Giuseppe) in 1930 Census?

1930 United States Federal Census

Name: Joseph Dagastino
[Joseph Dagostino]
Gender: Male
Birth Year: abt 1879
Birthplace: Italy
Race: White
Home in 1930: Windber, Somerset, Pennsylvania
View Map
Marital Status: Married
Immigration Year: 1911
Relation to Head of House: Head
Spouse's Name: Carmele Dagastino
Father's Birthplace: Italy
Mother's Birthplace: Italy
Occupation:
Neighbors: View others on page
Household Members:
Name Age

Carmele Dagastino 43
Ida Dagastino 19
Joseph Dagastino 10
Angaline Dagastino 9
Angelo Dagastino 6
Sistina Dagastino 5
Mary Dagastino 3
[3 9/12]

First child Ida was born in Italy according to the census. She and her mother, Carmela, list their year of immigration as 1914...
I'll look for a birth record for Ida in 1910/1911 in Campobello ... and also a ship manifest for their arrival...

The child, Ida, is actually Agata (named after Giuseppe's mother?)

Born in Campobello in November 1910
Record #398
Recorded on the 13 November 1910 in Campobello
Father, Giuseppe D'Agostino, age 32, mechanic, appeared before the official to declare that at 6 AM on the 11th of the month, at the place on Via Vittorio Emmanuele #256, to Carmela Lauria, his wife living with him, was born a female child, which he presented to the official, and to whom was given the name AGATA.

The records I posted above can be requested from the comune of Campobello di Licata by writing to the following address:

Ufficio dello Stato Civile
Piazza XX Settembre, 1
92023 Campobello di Licata (AG)
ITALY

Help with letters of request in Italian:
http://www.angelfire.com/ok3/pearlsofwi ... talrecords
http://www.circolocalabrese.org/resourc ... civile.asp

As for where the family went after Windber PA...
I've tried to find a WWII Registration card for Giuseppe/Joseph, but with no success.
The 1940 US Census is currently searchable by address, not by name...
You might try to follow them by obituaries or marriage announcements, etc. in the Pennsylvania newspapers...
I dont remember my Mother or Grandmother ever mentioning them although he is listed in the death notice of my grandmother.
