Stamp of Death?

Postby mdyer » 20 Apr 2012, 00:23

In reviewing a birth record for a great-uncle, I noticed a stamp in the margin that I haven't seen before. I believe it may notate his death. Can anyone confirm? I'm unsure of what the numbers represent. They don't look like dates. Perhaps they reference numbers for the death record? I wonder if this was included because he died as a baby?

Thanks,
Mike

Hi Mike, :D

Yes, this is a death notation...
Died in Boiano, 20 January 1963 (dates are written DAY/MONTH/YEAR)
Recorded in this record on 19 April 1963.
That would make him 84 years old at his death.

Thanks, Tessa. I guess the "963" threw me for a loop - didn't look like a full year to me. I appreciate your response.

Yes, it would! Very often you see the "1" not written...
