Guarascio or Nabolosa

Postby toma4321 » 30 Apr 2012, 17:20

I am looking for any information about my grandparents. There names where Antonio Guarascio and Caterina Nabolosa. My grandfather came here in May 4, 1904 and my grandmother followed in 1920. They came from S. Giovanni Fiore. His name was changed to Tony Wash when he came here. They moved to West Virginia and then PA. If you have any information I would be interested in it.
Thank you
Toni

Hello Toni!

Do you have approx. dates of birth for Antonio and Caterina?

Do you have US records? census, military, immigration?

Looks like Antonio Guarascio changed his name in Tony Wash, there's a tree on Ancestry.com:

Here's the birth entry for their daughter Mary in West virginia:

Hi Laura! :-)
Thanks for the info...
Looking at the tree you referenced, Antonio/Tony's parents are Biagio Curia and Rosa Curia :? :?:

Here is the NYC Index for Antonio and Caterina's marriage - certificate should have names of his parents...

Guarascio Antonio Oct 30 1920 Manhattan 31041
Nebolosa Caterina Oct 30 1920 Manhattan 31041

To request:

For reference purposes... (This is a different manifest than shown in the above Family Tree...)
Is this your Antonio Guarascio?

The May 4, 1904 arrival in BOSTON of Antonio Guarascio...
There are MANY on this manifest page from S. Giovanni - and several Guarascio - who are all heading to West Virginia :-)

Line 22...

AND..
Arrival in NY on 23 October 1920 of Caterina Nebolosa
Caterina is 22, single and leaving in S. Giovanni her "step mother Clarice Guarascio"
Her destination is to "promised Antonio Guarascio" in Clarksbury W. Va.

It appears that Caterina was a "Detained Passenger" for at least 4 days (meals listed, 4 breakfasts, 4 lunches, 4 dinners)... maybe she was waiting for Antonio to arrive from W. Va?
She was released, according to this list, on October 30, 1920, which is the same date as their wedding in NYC above... :-)

Thank you for the information. It is hard to find out anything from family because my grandparents didn't share that information
