Death Record with Father and Grandfather

Postby mdyer » 06 May 2012, 18:39

In my research of death records, the documents have always included the names of the deceased's parents. Yesterday, I came across a record for one of my grandfather's that includes his father's name, but also appears to include his grandfather's name. If I'm reading this correctly that seems to be out of the ordinary. Is there a particular reason why both the father and grandfather's name would be included (per the record both are already deceased). See record:

I have one other question. I'm unclear what the text in the linked birth extract below is saying. This is a birth extract for Carmine Rico. His parents are Nicola Rico and Teresa Visco. I see where it indicates his name, but the following line is unclear to me (in red box). I appreciate any help translating. Thanks.

Sorry to post yet another question - I'm going through a marriage processetti with a handful of records. The processetti includes a death extract for the grandfather of the bride (Domenico). However, I can't see where the death record states the names of Domenico's parents. I see that it lists his wife, Teresa Spina, but I can't seem to make any other names out. Am I overlooking that information?

Yes, it appears that both father and grandfather are indicated. Could have been the procedure in this comune, or there may have been a reason to differentiate which Domenico.

This is a baptism extract...
Looks to me that the Godmother[Madrina] is Amelia(sp?) Chiovillo... :-)

Again, I believe this is a church record. It is of the death and burial of Domenico and only mentions his wife Teresa Spina.

It would have been used in Processetti as record of death.

Thanks, Tessa, I appreciate it. I'll add "madrina" to my vocabulary. That's a new one for me.
