The name itself or the family? If its the family please advise whether you know the town of origin or the province that the family comes from in Italy. The surname Muscia is derived from MOSCA whichis the base name as it appaears in the Italian surname dictionary. The variation MUSCIA is identified with Sicliy and Calabria (southern). The spelling Muscas is specifically Sardinian. Peter

Muscia is a popular name for cat (aka gatto). Yes, the meaning does depend on which part of Italy/Sicily the name "Muscia" is from. Muscia is not a common last name.

My surname is Muscia and I'm of Sicilian ancestry. I have heard numerous versions re meaning.
