Surname: Turano possibly from Pisciotta

Postby FeliciaFiore » 29 May 2012, 19:14

Trying to research family history. If I am on the right track, grandmother was Angiolina Turano who arrived in NY in 1911. Possibly had a sister here (ny). Always heard that she was from Calabria, but the records I found on this person was that she was from Pisciotta. Would like to connect with any relations in italy.
Thanks for any help or suggestions with hunt. Unfortunately, they all died young and no one left on father's side with info.

Possible comunes

# Pisciotta, comune of Pisciotta - province: Salerno - region: Campania
# Pisciotta, comune of Strongoli - province: Crotone - region: Calabria
# Pisciotta Scalo, comune of Pisciotta - province: Salerno - region: Campania

The second listing above is in the Calabria Region... and is a frazione(hamlet) of the comune of Strongoli...

There are currently 2 listings for TURANO in Strongoli :-)

You may wish to write to one or both of these "potential" relatives...

I will definitely work on writing them to see if I am on the right track. Thank you so very much!
