Looking for D'Angelo, Perseo, Liberatore and Disipio

Postby nickd » 09 Jan 2005, 17:03

Hello,

I am building my family tree and I was looking for the above names from the Abruzzo region, particularly Provincia di Chieti. The specific town was Pretoro, but the names above appear to reach far beyond our town

My parents came to Canada in the late 50's and settled in Ottawa, Ontario

If anyone has any addiitional information, please reply.

I am also continuing to develop a website which I hope to publish soon that shows my current research.

Many thanks,

Nick D'Angelo

Civil records from 1809 to 1865 are on microfilm for Pretoro at the family history library of the Mormon church. The cost is minimal and you can trace all births, marriages and deaths in Pretoro for that period. Subsequent records can be obtain from the Muicpal offices in pretoro at the Uffico Di stato Civile provided you have a fullname and approximate year of birth. You can access other records. I am curous as to why you are concerned about towns other than Pretoro? I suspect you would like to know if they are, perhaps, also related to you. Leave that to the bitter end as you will have ennoughinformation starting here in the USA and working backwards thru ellis island and thence to Italy. Peter

Thanks for your reply and your suggestion to leave the 'other' names until the end.

You are right, it does seem over whelming at times seeing as there are so many names to trace and try to link.

I have started by asking my parents, who came to Canada in the late 50's about names etc.

I think that my next step will be to visit our local LDS church to review the records etc.

Thanks again.

I assume you are using the "pier 21 " for canada arrivals from Italy (It is a club as well among immigrant groups who came to Canada in the 50's. If you wish to consult an excellent book try Italian genealogical records by traffor R. Cole which is an easy read and will benefit your researches mightily. Also go to www.google.com andinsert in the title the surname of choice and the word alongside GENEALOGY and this will bring up any researches completed or being done on that surname. Peter
