Looking for Maria Bini and/or Antonio Palmisano
Looking for Maria Bini and/or Antonio Palmisano
I'm trying to find information on my great-great aunt, Maria Addolorata Bini/Bino (parents - Pietro Bini and Antonia Annese). She was born March 2, 1895 in Alberobello and came to the US in 1921 where she married Antonio Palmisano a few months later. He was also from Alberobello and came to the US on the same ship. He was born around 1891.
She was going to Utica, NY to stay with her brother Cosmo and he was going to Barnesboro, PA to stay with his brother Donato (born in 1884, I believe). I think Antonio's father's name was Giorgio.
However, I'm having a hard time finding any information on either Maria or Antonio after coming to the US. I found a newspaper article in Utica of their marriage in 1921, but I don't believe they stayed in Utica after getting married. My uncle thinks they moved to Endicott, NY and that she died there during child birth.
I've tried searching the 1925 NY census and 1930 census, as well as NY directories, with no luck.
If anyone knows anything about Antonio, such as his date of birth or death or where he resided after 1921, or especially anything about Maria after coming to the US...or can point me in the right direction, please let me know!

Thank you for your fast reply! I don't know how I missed this. I don't know about a brother Leo, but him having a son George and Antonio's age and residence all seem to fit. I'm glad to finally have something new to go on!
Thanks again!
Thanks again!

Hey, vj!
Kudos to you, too!
Don't you just love the way this census lists George's age as "320 Days"

Pretty neat, first time I've seen an age in days
I'm guessing Leo's son was named for grandfather Giorgio?
Biff, great SSDI & Find A Grave finds

Re: Looking for Maria Bini and/or Antonio Palmisano
Wow, thank you all!
After T. gave me the census clue I actually found Leo and a sister coming to the US to the same brother as Antonio, so it all checks out.
And I found that gravestone site with Antonio and Leo, so it does look like he remarried after 1940. Now I just need to figure out when/where Maria was buried, since it doesn't appear to be with him.
I can't afford Ancestry.com at the moment so I wasn't able to find that 1925 census. Thank you for that, vj!!

In case you don't have this, a 1905 did not sail manifest for Maria's brother Cosmo. Destination Utica, NY to join brother Giuseppe.

Re: Looking for Maria Bini and/or Antonio Palmisano
Hi all!
It's been several months and I've made very little progress on locating information on Maria.
I've called several cemeteries in the Endicott area and none seem to have a record of her. I also called the church that the Palmisano family (and many others from Alberobello) belonged to, but they had no death record for her either.
I recently realized that the 1925 census does not indicate whether Antonio Palmisano was a widower. I see that he was in 1940, but I can't find him in the 1930 census. Could anyone provide assistance here? I haven't been able to find his brother Leonardo in 1930 either (whom he seemed to live with for much of his life). I can't afford to do a 20 year death record search, so narrowing down her death date might really help.
Does anyone have any other suggestions for locating Maria?
Thanks!
