Luigi Ristagno San Cataldo Italy

Postby Romano1970 » 20 Jul 2012, 23:48

I came accross a person who I am trying to connect to my family.

Name Luigi Ristagno Born September 22 1892 in San Cataldo Sicily.
Wifes first Name was Josephine Married August 14 1919 in Passaic NJ. Josephine was born in Mussomeli Sicily June 21 1889. I do not see her maiden name on this Pettition of Citizen ship that I have been able to locate for Luigi.

He came to America via Philidelphia PA on July 31 1910 on the S.S. Taormina.

His wife as stated above was born in Mussomeli Sicily, the same comune as my Grandmother Maiden Name NIGRELLI Carmela born July 9 1893.

The RISTAGNO name is on my grandfathers side of the family. His mothers name was Ristagno Maria Filippa Born, May 16 1863 in Piazza Armerina.

Any help matching these two Ristagno families would be appreciated.

Hello Suanj! The name Maida is also in my family ancestry. It is on my Grandmothers side who is from Mussomeli as well.

My Great uncle Salvatore Nigrelli got married here in America to a Vincenza Maida Born Jan 12 1903. Came to America on Feb 23 1918.

My Grandmother was Marietta Maida from Mussomeli. She married Antonio Amico in Mussomeli and they settled in Buffalo NY In the 30s the family moved to Passaic NJ. My mother is Fillomena Constintina (Amico) Rothwell.

Two of my Uncles are priests. The one in Buffalo has had a service at his church for the people of Mussomeli. He takes some of his congregation to Mussomeli to celebrate mass for the Miracle of the Madonna. Its a wonderful town about an hour from Palermo.

The Maidas still have a home that has been kept by relatives who are Doctors in Palermo. The bakery in town is owned by the Mingoias. My Aunt Connie Mingoia left Buffalo to live back in Mussomeli. Suprisingly many of the Mussomelis have worked in New Jersey and New York and have returned to Mussomeli. I dont blame them.
