Suppa family in the south of Italy

Postby rawpunk » 20 Jan 2005, 13:17

My family came to Brazil and lost the contacts in Italy.
All of them died and I'm searching information about it...
All I know it's they came from Calabria, south Italy.

The surname is "Suppa".
The name of the Italian was "Stefano Suppa", translated after in Brazil to "Stevam Suppa".

Thanks anyway.

ZThere are numerous cities towns and villages in Calabria with persons surnamed Suppa. Is there anyway you can find out where he was born? Was he in the Italian army? Whta province in Calabria did he live in? As you know, you need to know the town of origin to find almost all records. Peter

Catanzaro is the capital of a province of many towns and villages. if he were bornin the city of Catanzaro then there will be a record but i suspect he came from a ton or village in the PROVINCIA di Catanzaro, correct? Did he serve in the italian army since the records will be in Catanzaro. Peter

não sei a data que ele entrou no brasil.

só se q ele nasceu em 1901 e morreu em 1936, no brasil.

I don't know when he came to brazil.

I only know that he born in 1901 and died in 1936, in brazil.

hello
i dont know if it helps you much, but i have a Vito Suppa in my family tree. he was my great-great-great-grandfather. He was married with Barbara Bilota. I dont know, when or where they were born. i suppose around 1850 somewhere in calabria. I only know one child of Barbara and Vito: Anna Suppa, i dont know when or where she was born. but she later married Pascuale Ferraina, and they had a daughter: Teresa Ferraina, she was born in 1908 in Cortale, CZ and married 04/27/1930 my great-grandfather vincenzo branca

vito suppa + barbara bilota -> anna suppa + pascuale ferraina -> teresa ferraina + vincenzo branca

saludos da suiza

Dear Rawthug (can't yopu come up wth as violent name?) Is there anyway you can go thru family legends or stories about where they came from in Italy. A saints name or a church name or do you have any fotos with the photographers name on it or a postcard with a stamp from the post office...anything that will give us the town of origin??? peter

thank you, my new friends, for the help with my case.

my ancestors all die and don't leave anything.

i think my family tree is different of the "Vito Suppa", I'm looking for a person who born in 1901 and die in 1936.

Estevam Suppa (Stefano Suppa) and his wife Ana Galati (Anna Galati).

I've been searching around and I think they come from Jacurso.

my nickname "rawpunk" it's because i like punk music. rock'n'roll. do you like?

Jacurso is a town in the province of Catanzaro, Postale 88020 and if you go to the Family History Library of th Mormon church where you live inBrazil you can rent the micorfilmof the civil records of all births, marriages and deaths from 1809 tio 1861 in Jacurso. If you wish documents after that date you have to write in Italian to Uffiico di Stato Civile, Comue di Jacurso, Postale 88020, provincia Catanzaro, Calabria, Italy giving them the full name and the year of birth or approximate year of birth. Go to www.mangeruca.com/letters.htm for form letters in Italian. Peter

Do the same thing except the family history library goes to 1921 which uis even better. The only thing different is the postale 93010 and the province is Caltanisetta in Sicily. Peter
