Postby Aspenpines » 21 Aug 2012, 02:51

I am looking for information about my great grandparents, Giovanni Mischio and Orsola Piedimonte He was born in Napoli in 1874 and was a sculptor. Orsola was born in 1877. According to records they were married with children whwn they immigrated to the US. I am trying to find out the year they were maried and where in Italy, also the names of their parents..

Welcome to the Forum :D !
We'll be happy to see what we can do to help.
Have you found all of your US records?
For research in Italian records we'll need to find their town(s) of origin.
For reference, is this the correct ship's manifest?
Thank you, Valarie

(note: orignal spelling may have been closer to Miscia/o?)

Thank you for confirming the US records.
For Italian records, FamilySearch has some of the civil records for Naples online (in Italian)

https://familysearch.org/search/collect ... on/1937990
Italy, Napoli, Civil Registration (State Archive), 1809-1865

Description:
Civil registration (stato civile) of births, marriages, and deaths within the custody of the State Archive of Napoli (Archivio di Stato di Napoli). Includes marriage banns (pubblicazioni; notificazioni); baptismal records; ecclesiastical returns of marriages; marriage memorandums (atti di memorandum); diverse records (atti diversi); marriages and deaths outside of the place of usual residence (matrimoni e morti fuori domicilio); and marriage supplemental documents (processetti). At the present time, this collection contains records for only certain sections (quartieri) of the city of Napoli. The quartieri of Napoli represented in the current collection include the following: Avvocata; Chiaia; Fuorigrotta; Miano e Marianella; Montecalvario; Posillipo; San Carlo all'Arena; San Ferdinando; San Giuseppe; Stella; Vicaria; and Vomero. Additional records for the city of Napoli and for surrounding towns (comuni) will be added as they become available.
