help finding information on ancestors born in 1800s

Post by StephCav »

I am trying to put together a family tree. I have the names of my relatives, but cannot find them anywhere except for a 1930s census. I have searched through immigration records and cannot find anything. Their names are Pasqualina Urbano who married Domenico Savini (also called Anthony), her parents Jacob Urbano and Domenica Rappagnani, and his parents Vincenzo Savini (born approx. 1885) and Maria Fidale-who died young, second wife Virginia Savini. I know that they were farmers either in or near Abruzzi and Teramo, Domenica's father was a teacher. All immigrated to the US before or around 1912. My grandfather says he remembers hearing one of the female relatives talk about something being wrong with the ship on the voyage over, and never got on a ship again. He didn't know if something was actually wrong with the ship or if the seas were just really rough on the voyage.

Welcome to the website. Do you have some more info like where they settled in the US? It would help to start there

All of these names seem to be correct. I don't have a lot of information. I will give this info to my grandfather and see what he says.

www.ellisisland.org

Others are subscription (fee) sites such as Ancestry.com

If you are still available, I could use more help. One of the people that we found Immigration records for, I cannot track after she came to the US. I know Maria Savini (also known as Maria Felice Di Fedele) died in Rhode Island between 1911 and 1916, but I think it was in 1913. I am trying to get as much information as I can about this family because in my searching for other relatives, I am getting possible hits with conflicting information (like birth years that are almost a decade apart)and I am not sure whether the information I have is correct or the new information is correct. Thank you so much for any information you can give me.

Hi, on the ship's manifest Maria was abt 20 old(? maybe 30 old)
Maria line 14
Silvino line 15
Sofia line 16
pag 1 http://www.ellisisland.org/EIFile/popup ... &line=0012
pag 2 http://www.ellisisland.org/EIFile/popup ... &line=0012
seeming born in Montorio al Vomano and no in Paterno as by this transcription:
New York Passenger Lists, 1820-1957 about Sofia Savini
Name: Sofia Savini
Arrival Date: 1 Jul 1909
Birth Year: abt 1908
Birth Location: Teramo
Birth Location Other: paternos ( maybe Paterno hamlet of Campli, Teramo, IT; however all family members coming from Montorio al Vomano..)
I found:
Web: Rhode Island, Find A Grave Index, 1663-2013 about Maria Savini
Name: Maria Savini
Birth Date: 1888
Age at Death: 25
Death Date: 24 May 1913
Burial Place: Lincoln, Providence County, Rhode Island, USA

parents: Joseph De Felix, Carolina De Felix (De Felix= De Felice)
I believe that Maria was born around 1879...
