Hey Carryl :D ,

From the records we found on your other post (especially the related 1907 ship manifest),
topic26022.html

it appears that the comune may have been Avellino - in the province of Avellino:

PS I posted to the polish site like you suggested..THANKS!

Hey Carryl :D ,
Looks like their civil records are available for 1809-1899 on microfilm (not online)

Your nearest Family History Center can order civil records for Avellino on microfilm.
The cost is about $7.50 mo (rent), you’ll need to go to the center to order & view them.

Carryl,
You could start by requesting your father's birth record (act) from the comune

Research in Avellino by writing to the comune:

Italian form letter generator with instructions:

Or other helpful form letters:

Note from member pink67 (Laura):
If the document is for citizenship purpose you have to ask for the "Estratto dell'atto di nascita in modello plurilingue"

Family History Library mircofilms only go to the late 1890's for Avellino so you will have to write or email for your fathers birth record

You are a virtual plethora of information!!! And the 'in case you aren't familiar with' part in your last response made me laugh..I'm not familiar with much of anything..but I'm trying to learn and you are a GREAT teacher! Thanks again!

And thank you to Marty too!!! The records are not for citizenship and I was thinking of trying to research my grandparents (both born in 1880) more than my father. Does it make sense to do that? And then it would be on microfilm, right? I REALLY appreciate ALL of your help!

Hi Carryld, I have been researching my family from Avellino and surrounding towns, for the past few years. Do all the manifest say they were from Avellino? What year did they come to the US, because after 1907 the manifest has 2 pages and give a lot more information.

While waiting on a copy of your father's birth record, order films from the FHC. I know I returned a few marriage records, because they were unreadable, but the birth records have been ok. Let me know if you need additional help and who knows maybe we have family in common. My family went to Manhattan and Brooklyn.
