Has anyone gotten a response from emailing Italy?

Postby k8landers » 20 Oct 2012, 04:39

When I requested Italian records, I received a letter and there was an email at the bottom. Has anyone every used this to get information?

I've gotten info from town registers many times via email, but have never requested record copies using email. Also, it's a hit or miss with the various towns. Some never respond, even after multiple emails; others respond quickly.

That's always been my attitude. Give it a try, but do it in Italian.

I was wondering about this as well. I decided to begin with an email after checking out the website for the city I wanted to contact and reading on their "contact" page that email is supposedly their preferred way of correspondence. We shall see!

Good luck!

I sent an email and got a response within 24 hours. The record that I requested took a little over a week to arrive from Italy. I guess it all depends on how much of a good mood the person is. It never hurts to try though :)

It's hit and miss (as has been said before). Sometimes I've received replies back and other times not.

ok, i'm new on this guys

So I can ask most of the comunes for information (like births record and things like that) and they will answer me? - It sounds too good to be true, anyway...if i get a positive answer and I want a copie of the document, what is the next step?

When you send an email look if there is a specific address for Anagrafe or Stato Civile or Servizi Demografici. These are the offices that keep the vital records. If you use the general contact address your message will end up with a lot of others concerning everything from holes in the sidewalks to kindergarten opening hours.
