Translation please

Postby sinatra101 » 20 Mar 2013, 19:37

I would like to get as much as possible out of this marriage record. Can someone please translate all of this for me as much as possible.

Thanks, Frank

Hi Frank,

You did not mention which of the two marriages in the image, but based on your past posts, I am translating the "Vassallo" marriage :-)

Record #11
Dated 7 October 1897 at 9:15 AM at the town office in Pollica
Appearing before the official were:
1 - Paolo Romano, age 26, laborer, single, born and residing in Pollica; son of Nicola and of Caterina Niglio, both residing in Pollica
AND
2 - Angela Maria Vassallo, age 22, laborer, single, born and residing in Pollica; daughter of Pasquale resident of New York, and of Caterina Carracino, residing in Pollica.
Witnesses to the recording of the act were: Raffaele Pepe, age 24, landowner; and Giuseppe Volpe, age 65, landowner.
Documents presented to the official included the publication of the banns which were on consecutive Sundays - 26 September last and 3 October, then 3 days later, and which had no opposition to the marriage.
Then the official read the present act to all the participants and the witnesses signed with him as the others were illiterate.
