Hello marymary52 :-)

Looking at the actual census, I see that the list you have posted above is actually across two pages of the census.

The children listed as Palermo are also children of Aniello Palerino (I believe the correct spelling is PALERMO and not Palerino)

The SCOGNAMILLO family is actually a separate family (Louis is the head) living in the same building in Brooklyn (most likely a tenament or apartment building)

I suspect that when the two pages were transcribed, the second page was read as Palermo but the first as Palerino because of a "dot" that seems to indicate an "i" :?

There is nothing on the census that indicates that these two families are related in any way. FYI, Aniello Palerino/Palermo (immigrated in 1893, and his wife, Louisa, in 1884) is a caretaker in a store; Louis Scognamillo (immigrated in 1897 and his wife in 1900) is a longshoreman on the docks.

I located a possible birth record for Catello/Catiello in Kings County in Dec. 1902 (registered 1903)... Mother's maiden name should be on the record :-)
Notice that the spellling of the surname is PALERMO

Palermo Catiello Dec 28'02 1903 Cert. #577 Kings

You can request (for a fee) the birth record at this site...
http://www.nyc.gov/html/records/html/vi ... irth.shtml

AND... POSSIBLE arrival of Aniello Palermo in 1895

New York, Passenger Lists, 1820-1957 about Aniello Palermo
Name: Aniello Palermo
Arrival Date: 24 Aug 1895
Birth Date: abt 1878
Age: 17
Gender: Male
Ethnicity/ Nationality: Italian
Port of Departure: Naples, Italy
Port of Arrival: New York, New York
Ship Name: Bolivia

Luigi Scognamiglio was born in Castellammare di Stabia on 17 Feb 1877, son of Stanislao Scognamiglio and Maria Rosati; Luigi married at Anna Arena.
For a connection you must search in Castellammare di Stabia civil records, if Aniello Palermo was born in same place..

on 16 april 1876 in Castellammare di stabia was no born a Aniello Palermo; if you know not the birthplace of Luigi Palermo, you cannot make a connection with Scognamiglio family of Castellammare di Stabia..

Hi I found a:
Name: Stanislao Scognamiglio
Event Type (Original Language): birth
Event Date (Original Language): 05 Ott 1823
Event Place: Castellammare di Stabia, Napoli, Italy
Gender (Original Language): Male
Age:
Birth Year (Estimated):
Father's Name: Pasquale Scognamiglio
Mother's Name: Gaetana Palermo
Spouse's Name:
Digital Folder Number: 004393423
Image Number: 00476

maybe died infant, because a second Stanislao was born from same couple:
Stanislao Scognamillo, "Italy, Napoli, Castellammare di Stabia, Civil Registration (Comune), 1809-1936"
Name: Stanislao Scognamillo
Event Type (Original Language): Birth
Event Date (Original Language): 28 Nov 1827
Event Place: Castellammare di Stabia, Napoli, Italy
Gender (Original Language): Male
Age:
Birth Year (Estimated):
Father's Name: Pasquale Scognamillo
Mother's Name: Gaetana Palermo

Stanislao Scognamillo, "Italy, Napoli, Castellammare di Stabia, Civil Registration (Comune), 1809-1936"
Name: Stanislao Scognamillo
Event Type (Original Language): Death
Event Date (Original Language): 17 Ago 1903
Event Place: Castellammare di Stabia, Napoli, Italy
Gender (Original Language): Male
Age: 76
Birth Year (Estimated): 1827
Father's Name: Pasquale Scognamillo
Mother's Name: Gaetana Palermo
Spouse's Name: Anna Maria Rosati

abt Nunziante Palermo, father of Aniello Palermo, in the birth record of Teresa, daughter, born on 17 Set 1871, well Nunziante was 22 old, son of Aniello:
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/T ... 1599484537
so Nunziante was born abt 1849; you know the father name of Gaetana Palermo married at Stanislao Scognamiglio?
It could be possible that Gaetana Palermo was a aunt of Nunziante Palermo?
